Project Phoenix
The new chapter
Learnira’s Project Phoenix is working to prepare incarcerated persons to acquire digital skills through training that prepares them for integration into society and make them ready for the job market.
We are empowering incarcerated individuals in the Ghana Prisons Service at both the juvenile and adult sections with digital skills, coding skills, access to online formal educational courses that offer certification and re-entry support programs to help them when released.
THE GHANA PRISONS SERVICE SUCCESS STORY

The Ghana Prisons Service technical unit has over the years been able to train and enhance the vocational skills of the inmates. We believe that more support will be needed in that by key players
OUR SOLUTION
We are empowering incarcerated individuals in the Ghana Prisons Service at both the juvenile and adult sections with digital skills, coding skills, access to online formal educational courses that offer certification and re-entry support programs to help them when released.
TRAINGING PATHS
Digital Natives
This track exposes learners to the opportunities available in the digital world, and netiquettes. It also equips them to be able to take on Digital Marketing roles.
Intro to Coding
We consider this trio as a low entry path to software development with so many exciting career opportunities that can be taken with this as the foundation.
Acces to formal education online
Our goal is to provide learners access to formal education of their choice that can be achieved via an e-learning portal. Courses are to be taken from accredited institutions both local and international.
After Release Programs
Reducing recidivism is one of the key metrics that we are measuring. We believe that the toughest part of our job will be in assisting our students with re-entry into society. We will be partnering with as many organizations to help with job placement, continuous education, and every other support for a seamless transition.
Pilot Phase
Project Phoenix is currently at the pilot phase, and we are working with the Ghana Prisons Service - Senior Correctional Centre. This is the only facility in Ghana that serves juveniles and young offenders.
Our goal is to work with the juvenile center first, evaluate our methodology, and scale to other facilities across the country.
